Recently, apple reveled that it is investing "heavily" in driver less vehicles and called on the US highways regulator to promote fair competition.
The giant tech company said it was excited about the potential of automated systems in many areas, including the transportation, in a letter to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Steve Kenner, Products Integrity Director, Apple |
The company is working for the cars through a electric project code-named Titan, which is in work for two years. In September, The New York Times reported that Apple is working for project of Roberts and has narrowed its ambitions sacking several employees.
It stated those working on Titan would concentrate on developing underlying technologies for automonous vehicles, rather than developing and designing a complete self driving vehicles. It appealed NHTSA not to penalize firms for testing the vehicles on public roads.
Lastly, Mr. Kenner said "Apple looks forward to collaborating with NHTSA and other stakeholders so that the significant societal benefits of automated vehicles can be realized safely, responsibly, and expeditiously."
In the present time, not only Apple, Tesla, Ford and Volvo are also developing self driving cars.
